A Live2D-Powered Platforming Adventure
๐ Story
One day, a slime comes across a chef's skull and bag in the forest, picks up the skull and hat, and notices butter toast in the cookbook and decides to make it for themselves. This slime must navigate the homes of ButterFlies and BaGoats to gather butter and bread to make its very own butter toast.

This game was made in Unity 6 for the Live2D Game Jam.
๐ฎ Controls
Movement
- Left/Right: A/D, Arrow Keys, or Gamepad Left Stick
- Jump: Spacebar, W, Up Arrow, or Face South on gamepad (A on Xbox, Cross on PS)
- Dash: Left Shift, Left Ctrl, or Face West on gamepad (X on Xbox, Square on PS)
Advanced Mechanics
- Wall-jumping and wall-sliding for vertical navigation
- Variable jump height (hold jump button for higher jumps)
- Air dash capability for extended mobility
- Dynamic camera that zooms in after 5 seconds of idle
โจ How is Live2D Used?
All characters in this game are brought to life using Live2D technology. This approach was chosen to avoid cumbersome sprite sheets that are difficult to iterate on and modify. When changes are needed, updating a Live2D model is significantly faster and more flexible than reworking entire sprite sheets.
The Live2D integration also enables embedded physics through deformers and physics settings, creating fluid, dynamic character animations that respond naturally to movement and gameplay events.
Technical Implementation
The game features custom integration between Unity's physics system and Live2D's Cubism SDK, allowing character models to react to velocity changes, state transitions, and environmental interactions in real-time.
๐ฆ Asset Attribution
Part of the codebase was created by robsawn for various other projects before this game jam started. All Live2D character models and game-specific code were created during the jam period. Tilemap assets obtainable here. UI assets obtainable here.
